South African dancer ItshuPrince brings his unique interpretation of “Ayo Yo” by Mörda and Chronical Deep to the second installment of SOUND IN MOTION: Interpretations of Asante IV. ItshuPrince is a dancer we deeply admire for his commitment to Itsbujwa, a South African urban dance style. In a dance landscape where artists are often encouraged to chase trends and adapt to what’s popular, Itshu continues to explore and evolve within his own roots, keeping Itsbujwa part of the conversation as South African urban dance continues to change. Through Sound In Motion, AfroConex brings together movement artists from different countries and dance backgrounds to explore how music inspires movement. Each artist brings their own style, influences, and creative perspective to the sounds of Mörda’s Asante IV. Different artists. Different movement. Different interpretations of sound. What did ItshuPrince hear in “Ayo Yo”? This is his interpretation. DJ Vado Poster is an Angolan DJ and producer we deeply admire. His infectious beats are made for dancing and have helped shape the sound we know today as Angolan Afrohouse. The first time AfroConex collaborated with DJ Vado Poster was back in 2022 on our first-ever beat, Começa—a fluid, hypnotic track we created with the dancer in mind. In this interview, we get to know the man behind the beat and hear about how he got started, the evolution of his sound, and some of the challenges he faced along the way.

Eury is one of rising young female Kuduro dancers who is making a name for herself in Angola. Her dance is energetic and memorable. Here is a clip of Eury giving a Kuduro workshop during our dance festival in Luanda, Angola.
